We’re making Footprints Across the Territory
This website is designed to support the orientation and workforce development of AOD workers across the Northern Territory who are working in regional and remote areas.
In 2006 funding through the Council of Australian Government was provided to enable the establishment of an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Workforce tasked with delivering services to remote communities.
The Remote AOD Workforce Program is a combination of Remote AOD Workers in both Department of Health and Aboriginal Medical Services in the Northern Territory. The program consists of over 40 workers across 30 communities who are located in primary health care centres.
Within these sections you can find a variety of resources for working in alcohol & other drugs, mental health, community development, Indigenous health & wellbeing and more.
There are practice manuals, youtube videos, example of assessments & interventions, and guides for best practice in working with Aboriginal people in the remote AOD & mental health context.
